The first edition of the Digital Summit of the European Society of Cardiology was held in the weekend of the 5th and 6th October (2019) in Tallinn, Estonia. The choice of organizing this congress in Estonia is not random, since Estonia is a country where all healthcare is digitally connected. Estonia uses the same electronic medical record nation-wide, capturing all health-related information such as medical prescriptions, without the need of a paper prescription. Estonia is an example of digital transformation and adaptation.

This two-day congress highlighted the potential of big data and digital/mobile health solutions in the field of cardiology. Main lectures were given in the main hall, whereas applied examples were elaborated in the digital arena.

We are also very pleased that one of our PhD students, Miss Hélène De Cannière, was selected as one (out of 75 submissions) to pitch her project ‘Fitbeat’. She did a marvelous job in presenting her project in a fun and catchy way. We are very proud that het pitch was second best! Well done Hélène ①

To conclude – the use of digital/mobile solutions is inevitable and we are at the rise of a new era.

Tänan!
