MHU was part of the Flanders’ delegation going to Silicon Valley organized by LifeTechValley, Happy Aging from 5 till 15 October. Health professionals, entrepreneurs and researchers of Flanders were introduced to the start-up culture in Silicon Valley, the healthcare system in the United States, as well as to many innovative technologies for elderly care during the Aging2.0 conference. We visited many interesting companies, universities and care organisations like Kaiser Permanente, Google, Stanford University, UCSF, Avenidas, Brookdale, IDEO, Jlabs, Lyft and myHealthTeams.

At October 13th the young start-up company Qompium won the public award of the Aging2.0 conference. Bieke Van Gorp presented the potential and added value of FibriCheck, a clinically validated software application for the screening and follow-up of heart rhythm disorders.
